E2S Power, a leading developer of thermal energy storage solutions, and SNC-Lavalin, a global, fully integrated professional services and project management company, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaboratively explore potentially converting end-of-life-cycle fossil fuel-fired power plants into clean energy facilities by deploying utility-scale thermal energy storage solutions.

This non-binding collaboration will address the rapidly growing energy storage market while giving a second life to valuable power infrastructure and transitioning local economies to clean energy.

E2S Power and SNC-Lavalin will work with utilities and power generators in North America to evaluate and offer optimized integrated thermal energy solutions for their existing plants and facilities being phased out.

“North America has more than 200 GW of coal-fueled capacity that may be decommissioned in the coming years in the transition to carbon neutrality. E2S Power offers a solution to ensure security of supply while preserving important assets and power plant jobs. We are looking forward to working with SNC-Lavalin and leveraging its strong track record for providing solutions in clean power across the entire development cycle,” said Dr. Sasha Savic, E2S Power CEO.
